GLOBAL SALES CHANNELS — ARRIA NLG SaaS SOLUTIONS
Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) will distribute Arria NLG
software to the market from Arria secure servers while
maintaining the security and integrity of our clients’ data
IN THE SAAS SOLUTIONS Channel we plan to provide a proprietary deployment of the Arria NLG Engine—
hosted on Arria NLG secure servers. This includes a complete suite of related services, including training, support,
data migration and data security/backup.
As we analyse industry verticals and as we work with Tech Transfer clients in a vertical we will look for opportunities
to create proprietary NLG-centric products in that vertical that can be deployed via the SaaS model. In
such cases, we will seek to own the solution completely—designing, developing, and deploying the solution on a
per user basis.
In each case, the key differentiator for the SaaS solution must be that it will enable the user to act as an expert
in that vertical via the Arria NLG Engine embedded in the product.
We expect our planned SQM3 SaaS solution (see sidebar) to do exactly that—to enable any retailer in the world
to become an expert in optimising the performance of the shelf space in their store and give them access to expert
information in a directly actionable way that, without Arria NLG, they may never have access to.
For those who are not familiar with the SaaS model, it is characterized by a company providing on-demand access
to its complex software through a web-based interface in return for a subscription-based license fee.
The most widely-recognized on-demand solution is Google, as its users access its complex search algorithm
(located on Google servers) from any internet-connected computer in the world.
The SaaS delivery system offers many benefits to clients:
• SaaS providers can cost-effectively share one application with many clients;
• Clients can accelerate the deployment process and eliminate additional infrastructure costs;
• A continuing decline in the cost of bandwidth means web-based solutions become even more viable;
• Low cost of implementation. Clients do not pay exorbitant sums for a product with a long development and implementation
timeframe with no guarantee of success. Instead, clients pay an almost nominal installation fee, a
recurring subscription fee, can begin to use the product after a short development cycle and retain the ability to cancel.
The success of on-demand services in the consumer market. For instance Google, iTunes and YouTube have
made accessing content and services commonplace in professionals’ personal lives. Professionals are now demanding
similar features in business software; and the success of early leaders such as salesforce.com has
demonstrated the viability and value proposition of the SaaS solution model.
